The Tulsa Tech Game of the Week is a good one in 5A as undefeated Collinsville travels to one-loss Claremore Friday night.
"It’s always a battle when we go over there, there’s no doubt about it,” Collinsville Head Coach Kevin Jones said. “We have had some good ones over the years."
Both Collinsville and Claremore are undefeated in the district, and a win will separate them in the pack.
"Our guys know whoever wins this game is in the driver’s seat in our district at 3-0 in our district,” Claremore Head Coach Jarrett Hurt said. “We are only two teams that are 2-0 right now, so our kids know what’s on the line tomorrow night and really looking forward to the challenge."
The driver’s seat it’s what is on the line for Claremore and Collinsville. Cardinals coach Jones used some words of wisdom that he received from Union Head Coach Kirk Fridrich for the showdown with the Zebras.
"Be the hunter not the hunted,” Jones said. “Just have that mentality every single time you step out on the grass because you are going to have a bullseye on your chest when you are successful, and our guys have responded well to it.”
Claremore's only loss came way back in week one to Bartlesville. One of the biggest keys to their four-game winning streak has been Demetrice Coronado in the backfield.
“He has done a super job for us,” Hurt said. “He has had back-to-back 100-yard rushing nights, so we are excited about what he is doing and what he brings to the table."
