More than 600 new freshmen moved in today at TU and each one of them received a warm welcome.
"We always cheer people on,” TU employee Tori Groves said.
New freshmen and their families were greeted with cheers while they drove into the University of Tulsa campus.
"It's going to be great to be back after the crazy year that we had,” Grove said.
Groves helped navigate the new freshmen and their parents to the apartments near Collins Hall, so they can move in.
“It's been a very tough year for everyone, so we are excited to be back,” President of TU, Brad Carson said.
Carson says they're excited that all the new freshmen will be experiencing in-person classes this fall semester.
"Classes this year with a couple of exceptions will be in person. We want to get back, we think that is what the TU advantage is, you get to know your professors,” Carson said.
"Mayo Village Apartments, it's very big,” Freshman, Brooke Conklin said.
Conklin drove all the way from Lawton to move into her new place. She says she's a little anxious about her new journey.
"Nervous about meeting all the new people, starting new classes, new town, new school, it's a whole new chapter in my life,” Conklin said.
“The theme this year at orientation is 'take off at TU' because we believe after the crazy year that our incoming students have gone through, we are ready to see them soar and take off during college,” Groves said.
Classes at TU are set to begin next Monday.
