Tulsa Public Schools recently announced a new initiative to improve attendance in the district.
According to Superintendent Dr. Ebony Johnson, chronic absenteeism is close to 40-percent for the district, while the state average is 20-percent.

Across the country, students have been absent at record rates since schools reopened.
Kids are staying home for a myriad reasons such as illness, anxiety, depression, and bullying.
