(El Reno-AP) -- The Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes of Oklahoma say they'll make a claim to the federal government for 40% of Colorado, a total of 27-million acres.

The tribes said today they'll drop the claim in exchange for 500 acres of land to build a casino.

The 27-million acres includes the entire northeast section of Colorado and corresponds with land designated as traditional Cheyenne and Arapaho land by the federal Indian Claims Commission. The tribes say they were forced off their homeland in the 1800s.

The tribes say they'll give up the claim for 500 acres to build a $100-million casino, travel center and cultural center.
