Chance Of Storms Ahead For Green Country

TULSA, Oklahoma -

Northeastern Oklahoma will feel like spring Monday and Tuesday before the weather turns cooler again mid week.

"And with spring-like conditions, we may be in the running from some spring-like thunderstorms late Monday night into Tuesday," News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone said in his morning weather blog.

"Our better chances will arrive Tuesday as a powerful upper level system draws closer to the area," he said.

The system will bring an increasing chance of storms. Some may be severe with the main threat of wind damage, according to current data, he said.

Showers and storms are expected to develop near Interstate 35 by sunrise Tuesday, advancing to the Tulsa area from about 10 a.m. to noon, and moving along and east of Highway 69 from 1 to 3 p.m. There's even a very slight chance of snow as the front moves into western Arkansas.

"Once this system moves eastward, some cooler air will be in place Wednesday through Saturday before a modest warm up occurs Sunday into early next week," Crone said.
