A south Oklahoma City family whose home was one of many demolished during the monster May 20 Moore tornado has rebuilt, and moved back home.
Chad and Kristal Drewery's old home used to sit fewer than 500 feet from Briarwood Elementary School. Briarwood and Plaza Towers Elementary were destroyed by the EF5 tornado on May 20. Seven children died at Plaza Towers.
The Drewerys say it was important to them to rebuild exactly where their old home was. They are now one of the first Oklahoma City families to move back into the neighborhood.
"We're excited to watch Briarwood get rebuilt," Chad Drewery said. "Recognizing that it was a bad thing that the old one is gone, but in the end it will be exciting to watch the new one get built."
Briarwood Elementary is scheduled to re-open next fall.
