TULSA, Oklahoma -

About 10,000 people were expected to come to Guts Church's "Day of Giving" event at ONEOK Field Friday but even more than that have come already.

The rain didn't put a damper on the day. There was been some high winds, rain and lightning, but people didn't seem to mind.

The lines stretched out of the stadium as folks have come to receive free groceries and diapers. Some are also receiving free medical and dental care; and the first 1,000 kids who attended received a free bicycle.

Organizers said they did this to give people something intangible, hope.

"What we are hopeful for is breakthrough for people's lives in Tulsa. Just helping people, man, people they might be down, they are not out. We can give them a hand up," said Guts Pastor, Bill Scheer.

In order to make all this possible, Guts Church teamed up with Joyce Meyer Ministries. She spoke to the crowd along with Governor Mary Fallin and Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt.

Donna Mobley was excited to hear her speak, "First off, Joyce Meyer is the bomb. I am excited to see her in person and hear what she has to say."

Meyer's message to Tulsans was about holding on to hope.

Fallin was glad to have her in town,

"So to have a person of her stature come and help the poor and the needy in our state," Fallin said. "It's just a wonderful perk for our community and certainly its just a great thing for people to hear her speak."

Several Tulsa area businesses, school districts and churches also donated their time and money to make the "Day of Giving" happen.
