Third Arrest Made In East Tulsa Motel Murder

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa police have made a third arrest in an east Tulsa motel murder.

Kendrick Logan was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon. Warren Crittenden, a former longtime Tulsa County deputy, and Pamela Taylor were arrested on Tuesday.

The sheriff's office says Warren Crittenden was a corporal who spent 16 years as a deputy before resigning in 2011.

The arrest and booking report says Crittenden and Taylor claim they weren't in the room when the victim –- 33-year-old Michael Owens -- was killed.

Tulsa detectives said the crime scene started with a trip to a casino. That's where Owens reportedly met Taylor on Tuesday morning before taking her back to the Super 8 Motel. The arrest report says Taylor told detectives that Owens gave her $20 and demanded sexual favors.

Taylor claimed she refused, so Owens told her to give the money back and she refused. She told investigators that's when the man started acting violent, so she left and called several friends.

Not long after, police said Crittenden and three other men showed up. Security camera footage shows the four men standing outside Owens' door before the shooting, and then three of the men rushing the room, police said.

According to the police report, Crittenden did not go in, but she told investigators he knew something bad was going to happen because two of the men showed him guns.

Taylor told police she waited outside in a car and was under the impression the men were going to "rough up" the victim.

Investigators said another woman was in the room with Owens at the time of the shooting. She told police the men forced their way into the room and shot him.

PDetectives said Taylor left with two of the men -- and Crittenden left with the other man.

Police caught up with Crittenden when he crashed his truck not far from the crime scene.

According to the arrest report, Crittenden told investigators he'd dropped off a man he knew as "D" -- then he drove around east Tulsa.

He claimed he was forced to participate at gunpoint and didn't know the true identity of the three others.

Investigators said Crittenden couldn't explain why he didn't call 911 after the shooting.

Tulsa police also say Jerome Hardaway is a person of interest. They also gave us a still photo taken from security footage, hoping someone would recognize the man wearing pajama pants.

TPD also says Owens, the man who was shot, had a criminal history in Ohio and Idaho.
