The Montgomery County Sheriff has confirmed that the man arrested in Kansas after a chase through Oklahoma is the suspect in a midtown Tulsa bank robbery.

News On 6 reported on both the robbery and the chase on Wednesday, but sheriff Robert Dierks was able to confirm on Thursday that the two events were connected.

Dierks said the robbery suspect, 35-year-old Steven Dwain Kinman, of Tulsa, is in the Montgomery County jail.

Authorities say Kinman robbed Prosperity Bank at Utica Square before 6 p.m., then carjacked a vehicle and led the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on a chase that ended in a crash on Highway 400 in Kansas.

As OHP made attempts to stop Kinman, he “drove into oncoming traffic and swerved towards Law Enforcement vehicles during the pursuit,” a news release says.

Kinman and a passenger in the vehicle, Daniel Jay Hall, also of Tulsa, were transported to a hospital in Parsons, then taken to jail.

Kinman has a long criminal history, and records show he has been sent to prison three times for various crimes, including firearms, theft and drug-related convictions.

News On 6 did a story about Kinman in 2012, when he was arrested for burglarizing stores at the Farm Shopping Center in Tulsa. TPD said he was one of two men suspected in several area burglaries.

A security guard at the The Farm reportedly stopped Kinman's alleged accomplice in the middle of a burglary and held him at gunpoint until police arrived. Kinman was arrested the next day. He pleaded guilty to the charges. He was sentenced to six years in prison, served two and was last released in August 2014.
