News 9 and News On 6 Sports have confirmed with sources that Oklahoma State quarterback J.W. Walsh had surgery today as a result of an injury sustained against Missouri State on Saturday.
Sources indicated the surgery was on Walsh's lower leg/ankle area, but it was not to repair a broken bone. Instead, the surgery was to correct a soft tissue injury, which could include ligament damage.
Sources also said the reported six to eight week timeframe for Walsh's absence could be classified as optimistic and that he could be out with the injury for longer than that.
We will update this story as more details become available.
