It was a dangerous day on the roads Thursday.
One woman died in an accident Thursday afternoon and dozens of others were injured in car crashes in the metro.
Police say a woman from Chickasha died following an accident in southwest Oklahoma City.
Crews responded to the single vehicle accident around 12:30 p.m. Thursday at I-44 and S.W. 119th Street. Police say a woman was traveling southbound on I-44 when she veered off the interstate for some unknown reason. The truck traveled through a drainage ditch and a barb wire fence. The truck came to a stop in a field at the Vondel Smith & Sons Funeral Home, just south of S.W. 119th Street.
Oklahoma City Police confirm the female driver died at the scene. Her name is not being released until family is notified.
Slick spots are still hanging around and first responders tell us they are worried the work being done to clear the roads could give drivers a false sense of security.
Oklahoma City police responded to 72 accidents on Thursday from midnight until 2 p .m.
