Name Released For New College Football Playoff

The new college football playoff has officially been given a name – the College Football Playoff.

Oklahoma Athletic Director Joe Castiglione asked what most people are probably asking after the announcement, "Is that really the name or just a space-filler?"

But that apparently is the name of the new four-team FBS playoff that will begin after the 2014 season. The upcoming college football season will be the final one using the current BCS format.

An official announcement about the new name will made at 7 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday from the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, California.

Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will host the first playoff national championship game on January 12, 2015.
