Allergies are at an all time high this season, even with recent rainfall, people are still suffering. But there's a sweet and natural way to ease the symptoms.

Believe it or not, locally grown honey may be a miracle cure if you're willing to wait and have faith. Since 50 million Americans suffer with sinus issues. People are flocking to local honey makers to get relief.

Perfume, plants and even pets are the culprit. And the cure may be in a honeycomb and in not the pharmacy.

"There is no doubt in mind that local honey can help people with their allergies," said Tommy Thornton of Heartland Bee Farm. "When we extract honey from the combs some of that pollen not much get mixed I, the honey and dissolves in the honey."

The process builds your immunity, but there is a catch according to allergy experts.

"They are attracted to the bright pretty flowers. The bright pretty things don't cause allergies, the ugly plants that we don't necessarily see that cause allergies," Dr. Amy Darter said.

Yet, Thompson claims he's cured customers with his natural prescription. So will a teaspoon a day will keep the sneezing away?

"Yeah, but it takes time, it's not a quick fix or cure," Thompson said.

If the sneezing, itching and just plain old misery are something you can't take, follow the doctor's orders.

"Take an antihistamine before you go outside. Treating before is usually helpful than trying to medicate once you already have symptoms," Dr. Darter said.

Dr. Darter suggests if you suffer from allergies after coming from outside, wash your clothes, hands and change bed linens weekly. Also consider changing out carpet for flooring.
