PALM SPRINGS, California – The 6th-ranked Sooners spent Saturday experiencing both sides of the spectrum.
OU split a pair of games at the Cathedral City Classic, run-ruling Boise State 9-0 before falling to No. 14 Stanford, 5-0.
It didn't take long for the Sooners to handle the Broncos in the first game, as a pair of home runs from Brittney Williams helped OU end the game in the fifth inning.
The win was the third-straight shutout for the Sooners and Michelle Gascoigne moved to 5-0, giving up just two hits.
In the second game of the night, Stanford got out to a quick start, leading 2-0 in the first inning.
The Cardinal added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Teagan Gerhart kept the Sooner batters at bay.
She gave up only three hits and struck out six in a full game.
OU finished up play at the Classic on Saturday when it takes on No. 13 Georgia. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
