NORMAN, Oklahoma – Former Arkansas guard Rotnei Clarke spent Monday touring the University of Oklahoma.
Clarke, a native of Verdigris, Okla. and standout guard at the University of Arkansas was released from the team June 20th and has since been visiting colleges to find his next team.
The six-foot guard spent Monday touring OU then spent some time with the team before finally meeting head coach Lon Kruger for dinner.
News9's Dean Blevins reports that Kruger "definitely wants" Clarke to join the Sooner squad.
Clarke averaged 15.2 points, three rebounds and 1.6 assists last year for the Razorbacks while shooting 43.8 percent from behind the three point line. He was also named to the SEC conference's second team last season.
Clarke was one of three players granted a release from the University of Arkansas after the school fired coach John Pelphrey earlier this year. Although he will have to sit out the 2011-12 season, Clarke will still have one season of eligibility remaining.
While in high school Clarke averaged 41 points per game and became the all-time leading high school scorer in the state of Oklahoma.
Clarke has also visited Butler and is reportedly also considering Virginia and Gonzaga.
