OKLAHOMA CITY -- A man has been arrested after starting a fight in a car while his grandmother was driving.
According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, deputies were working a routine traffic stop at Highway 66 and N. Post Road when they noticed two men fighting in a car nearby and an elderly woman in the driver's seat.
A deputy walked over to the vehicle and eventually stopped the men from fighting.
Both men had lacerations and bruising to their faces.
An initial investigation determined the two men had been drinking alcohol and got into a physical confrontation after one of the men called the other a name. The elderly woman saw the deputies and stopped her car for help.
The two men were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated.
Deputies said 29-year-old Lee Weston Hankins was arrested on one complaint of assault and battery and one complaint of disturbing the peace after it was determined he initiated the fight. The other man was not arrested because he was believed to have been defending himself.
Hankins was the elderly woman's grandson.
