TRYON, Oklahoma -- Lincoln County officials said a elderly man died while burning brush near Tryon.
Tryon Fire Chief Mike Kerns said firefighters responded to a grass fire Wednesday afternoon. After extinguishing the blaze, they began to search for the property owner. That's when fire crews found the 73-year-old man deceased nearby in the field.
Lincoln County Emergency Manager Joey Wakefield said the man had apparently been out burning brush all day when he was overcome by the heat and smoke.
The M.E.'s Office is still investigating to determine an exact cause of death.
The man's identity has not been released.
