OKLAHOMA CITY -- Seven people were transported to the hospital this morning after a house fire in southwest Oklahoma City.
The seven were suffering from smoke inhalation. Three of those people were reportedly in critical condition.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. in the 1300 block of S.W. 33rd Street. When fire crews arrived, several people were trying to go back in the house to rescue someone they thought was still inside. It turned out that the person had gone across the street to the neighbor's house.
"Bottom line is, when you're in a fire you need to evacuate the structure, get out of the structure and let us do our job, otherwise you may become a victim yourself," Major Jeff Renner with the Oklahoma City Fire Department.
The fire was contained to one room in the house.
Investigators say the fire was the second fire at the home since Sunday night, but the cause of the fire has not been determined.
