DILL CITY, Okla. -- Early Sunday morning, police found and arrested William Knittle in rural Oklahoma for the murder of James Lamy.
Agent Joe Ferarro with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations spotted Knittel driving on Highway 152 near Dill City. A small pursuit ended in Knittle's arrest.
Knittle was driving a stolen 1999 silver Saturn four-door vehicle that he had attempted to paint. The license plates that belonged to the vehicle had been changed and replaced with plates that were also reported as stolen.
Authorities had been searching for Knittle since Thursday. Knittle was spotted Thursday and Saturday in rural parts of Oklahoma. He has family ties to Oklahoma, which led police to believe when Knittle fled Texas, he came here.
Knittel fled the San Antonio area last week after a Kendall County Grand Jury indicted him on the murder of Lamy.
Knittel is being held in the Washita County Jail in Cordell, Oklahoma awaiting extradition to Kendall County, Texas.
