OKC Air Traffic Controller Academy Closed Amid Government Shutdown
The Federal Aviation Administration says its air traffic controller academy in Oklahoma City is temporarily closed right now because of the partial government shutdown.

That means delayed training for new controllers at a time when the FAA is already short-staffed, which could lead to flight delays. The National Air Traffic Controllers Association says controllers are already working overtime and now, not getting paid.
"We are working 6 days a week. Some are working 10 hours a day that's across the country. We are at a 30 year low in staffing for air traffic controllers nationwide. The school in Oklahoma is shutdown," said National Air Traffic Controllers Association President Marc Schneider.
