State Farm says it's closing eleven facilities over the next several years, including one in Tulsa.

In a news release Thursday afternoon, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company announced plans to close the facilities in stages beginning in 2018. It says the work from the facilities will move to the company’s headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois and other offices around the country.

The company says the changes will affect approximately 4,200 of the company’s nearly 70,000 employees. These employees will continue to have job opportunities in other State Farm locations.

“We’re disappointed to learn that State Farm plans to leave Tulsa in 2019 as part of a national restructuring,” said Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum. “Our first consideration is for our neighbors whose jobs are impacted. Fortunately, there remains a demand for their skills in Tulsa and we have a network of private resources through the Tulsa Regional Chamber committed to keeping them here.”

The Tulsa facility opened in 1989 and has 530 employees.

“In order to adapt to the changing needs of our customers and continue to provide the remarkable service that our customers expect, we must continue to manage our business efficiently,” said Mary Schmidt, executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

In addition to the Tulsa facility, the company will also close facilities in the following locations:

2018
-Parsippany, NJ
-Petaluma, CA

2019
-Kalamazoo, MI
-Irvine, CA

2020
-Indianapolis
-Medley, FL
-Downers Grove, IL
-West Lafayette, IN

2021
-Bakersfield, CA
-Frederick, MD
