Tulsa County commissioners voted 2 to 1 Monday morning to allow former Sheriff Stanley Glanz to retain his status as a peace officer after his retirement and to keep his gun and badge.
Prior to their vote, two speakers addressed the commissioners arguing against the move, saying Glanz doesn't deserve it because he is facing two misdemeanor charges. The commissioners said state law allows it and pointed out that Glanz has not been convicted and is innocent until proven guilty.
The board did decide if something else comes up in the future from the OSBI or FBI investigations, this status could be re-visited then.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office said Glanz personally purchased his gun so it didn't cost taxpayers any money. He said it is symbolic to those who have served in law enforcement and is routinely done for retiring members of law enforcement.
