The Medical Examiner says the cause of death of a little girl who police say was murdered by her teenage cousin was strangulation and beating.
Charity Simmons was two when she died on June 26, 2015. Dinero Reddick, 13, is in jail charged with her murder.
According to the autopsy released by the Medical Examiner's office, the cause of the girl's death was "ligature strangulation and multiple blunt impacts to head and neck, torso, and extremities with musculoskeletal and visceral injuries."
Reddick was staying with the girl's mother in the 12,000 block of East 27th Street when the mother went to a bar and then to a friend's house on the night of June 25, 2015, according to court documents. The documents say a man leaving for work saw Reddick carrying the girl down the street at about 4:30 a.m. on June 26.
A neighbor told News On 6 Reddick came to her door asking for help because the girl was unresponsive.
The girl's mother, Christina Simmons, has since bonded out of jail on a child neglect charge.
