During Thanksgiving week we all have something to be thankful for. For Coach Blankenship, it is to be at his alma mater. "Something happened in the past, and it makes me angry. Something might happen in the future, and I may worry about it. The antidote for both is Thanksgiving. How blessed am I, to be here today,” said Blankenship.
This year TU's senior class had to overcome some injuries, and even the walk-ons have their stories. Senior defensive end Chris Hummingbird said, "They're still there for us, to keep us going, and they haven't stopped. I mean adversity, what you [have] to do is keep overcoming it."
The Golden Hurricane match-up against East Carolina for their last game. They have a high-powered offense, which isn't something to be thankful for on TU's behalf. Blankenship stated, "They're averaging about 100 snaps a game. I mean, they're going lightning fast. We can't sit back there and let Shane throw post routes for touchdowns."
Many wonder if we will see the end of the Coach Blankenship era on Black Friday. "I just have to play the cards that were dealt. I mean, I hate that we've had this many guys hurt, [and] I hate that we've had to deal with concussions. You have to go forward or you're not going to be very good at this. We as a staff, and as a collection of players on this team, can't get caught up in everybody else's perception," said Blankenship.
