The Broadway hit Wicked brought some big money to Tulsa this summer and some needy children get to share in the bounty; a portion of ticket sales from the July Fourth matinee performance wen to the Food for Kids Backpack program.
"This is the largest check we've been able to give to a charitable organization, and we are so excited to be able to do it,” said Ed Payton with Celebrity Attractions.
Eileen Bradshaw with the Community Food Bank for Eastern Oklahoma, said, "This will provide a backpack for 55 children for a year. That's incredible. So no more worries for 55 kids."
News On 6’s own Terry Hood helped present the check to the food bank Friday, for $7,680.
Altogether, Celebrity Attractions said ticket sales for Wicked topped $4 million over its three week run in Tulsa.
