A convicted felon pleaded guilty to reduced charges in Tulsa County Court Tuesday.

Cody Robert Mathews was arrested after a woman told police he held her and a child hostage for over two hours. Glenpool police officers eventually helped the woman and child get out of the home.

The woman had trauma to her mouth and told police Mathews had punched her.

Mathews, 23, said he didn't want to let police into the home because he was wanted on outstanding traffic and drug warrants. He admitted domestic assault and battery but said he did not hold the woman hostage.

The kidnapping charges were dismissed.

Judge David Youll sentenced Mathews to five years for the assault with a dangerous weapon charge and a one-year suspended sentence on the assault and battery charge.
