The Grand River Dam Authority says due to excessive drought conditions and lake levels which are already below normal, a draw down of Grand Lake in early September could limit the ability for lake levels to recover in late October to normal operating levels.

The reason the lack of water coming flowing into the lake.

The GRDA says it has been corresponding with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and states they will be unable to meet a FERC requirement for a 744 feet lake level because of the inflow concerns.

The GRDA says communities surrounded Grand Lake obtain raw water from the lake and because of that, drought conditions may influence the supply of water for those communities "GRDA believes conserving the water level throughout this period is prudent."
