Tulsa Police are still trying to figure out what led to a car crash in an east Tulsa neighborhood early Monday morning that killed a woman.

Police say the crash happened at around 2 a.m. in the 7800 block of 89th East Avenue.

They identify the woman as Amanda Perez, 31.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.  The man, 24-year-old Stormey Jordan, was taken by EMSA to a Tulsa hospital.  There is no word on his condition.

The car was southbound on 89th East Avenue at a high rate of speed when it hit a tree causing the car to spin and catch fire.

Tulsa Police say the crash was so loud it woke several people in the neighborhood who then assisted in the rescue of the man and woman from the burning car.

"When the officers arrived they found one car that was on fire. Two occupants had been inside. So some of the people who lived in the area had also heard the crash and came out and had gotten the people out of the car," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Darren Bristow.

Police are now trying to determine if alcohol played a factor in the crash.  The crash closed 89th East Avenue for several hours.
