Wrong-Way Driver Causes Double Fatality Wreck On Turner Turnpike

A double fatality wreck closed the Turner Turnpike Saturday afternoon as emergency personnel cleared the scene. Troopers say a wrong-way driver hit one vehicle head-on.

Wrong-Way Driver Causes Double Fatality Wreck On Turner Turnpike

Traffic was diverted from the Turner Turnpike due to a wreck Saturday afternoon. Emergency personnel responded to a multi-car collision on eastbound Interstate 44 at Sapulpa.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that two people were killed.

"A wrong-way driver struck a vehicle head-on, westbound in the eastbound traffic lanes," according to an OHP bulletin.

"Two people are confirmed dead. There are four vehicles involved in the collision with multiple people injured."

The collision took place at the 217 mile marker, where the toll road crosses Old Highway 66.
