One of Oklahoma's Own everyday heroes was honored Tuesday. Darwin Eaton was a faithful blood donor during his lifetime, giving more than 42 gallons of blood.
He passed away last April, but the Red Cross remembered his gift of life by naming a donor room after him.
His family was moved to tears during the unveiling. They say during Mr. Eaton's lifetime, he gave blood every six weeks for 60 years.
"When it was all done, I think his 42 gallons saved over a thousand lives so he knew he was making a huge difference," said Darwin's son Jim Eaton.
Mr. Eaton's son says one of his dad's favorite things about giving blood, was each time he came home, his wife made him liver and onions to eat.
