TULSA, Oklahoma -- A 15-year-old and 12-year-old girl are in custody after crashing a Dodge pickup in the busy Brookside district Friday night. The two were running from police in a tuck that may have been stolen, police say.
According to Tulsa Police, the chase started when an officer spotted the pickup southbound on Peoria with no headlights. He then turned around to pursue the truck, but by the time the officer could catch the vehicle, it had crashed into another car in front of the Center One shopping center on Peoria.
The 15-year-old driver and 12-year-old passenger then jumped out and took off on foot. The two suspects didn't get far though; several civilians took off after the two, aiding police in catching one of the girls. The other suspect was found shortly after.
Witnesses told police the two suspects were going nearly 80 mph and blew through a red light at 35th and Peoria before crashing.
Two victims of the crash were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
