SAN ANTONIO -- The Tulsa Drillers split their Sunday doubleheader with San Antonio. The Missions won the first game 2-1 while the Drillers took the second contest 4-1. Both games were seven inning affairs.
Both teams will continue their series at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
Tulsa 4 San Antonio 1
Tulsa scored four runs in the top of the seventh to overcome a one-run deficit.
Jason Van Kooten scored the Drillers first run on a bases loaded walk. Kiel Roling crossed the plate on a wild pitch on the next play to put Tulsa on top 2-1. Bronson Sardinha capped the inning with a two-run single.
Mission’s manager Doug Dascenzo was tossed by third base umpire Jeff Gosney for arguing.
Andrew Parrino hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to give San Antonio a 1-0 lead.
Chris Malone (2-2) earned the win after allowing one run in an inning of relief.
Craig Italiano (5-3) gave up four runs (none earned) and was tagged with the loss.
San Antonio 2 Tulsa 1
Blake Tekotte’s two-run homer proved to be the difference in San Antonio’s 2-1 victory over Tulsa Sunday.
The game was a pitcher’s duel heading into the bottom of the sixth. Tekotte broke a scoreless tie with his two-run shot to right.
The Drillers started to rally in the top of the seventh. Charles Blackmon scored Tulsa’s first run of the game on a Bronson Sardinha single.
But the comeback started to fall short when the next batter grounded into a double play.
Kiel Roling and Warren Shaffer hit back-to-back singles to put two runners on with two outs. However, Lars Davis struck out to end the game on the next play.
Brandon Durden (3-6) was tagged with the loss after giving up two earned runs in six innings.
Jeremy Hefner (7-4) went the distance while allowing just one run to gain the win.
