Tulsa Mom Charged With Death Of Infant Daughter Arrested In California

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The 24-year-old Tulsa mother of an infant who died in 2007 was arrested in California and booked into the Tulsa County jail on Monday.

Tamara Matthews was charged on March, 17, 2011 with child abuse murder in connection with the death of 2-month-old Tianna O'Neal.

The father of Tianna, Gregory O'Neal is also charged with child abuse murder but has not been arrested.

Tamara Matthews was arrested in Murrieta, California and returned to Tulsa.

Tulsa Police say the couple claimed the baby was having heart problems when they took her to the emergency room on May 17, 2007.

According to court records, the baby suffered a "skull fracture, subdural hemorrhages, extensive crushing injuries to the arm," and "bruising on the buttocks, shoulder and back."

The infant died a day later, on May 18, 2007.
