SAND SPRINGS, OK -- A two-car crash in Sand Springs has led to three deaths.
According to police reports, the accident happened at about 12:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 51 just west of the intersection with Highway 97.
Troopers say a 2004 Hummer, driven by 20-year-old Steven W. Jameson, was headed eastbound on Highway 51 when the driver looked at a dog in the back seat when he looked forward he had crossed into oncoming traffic striking a 2006 Chevy Cobalt head-on.
The three occupants of the Cobalt died. It was occupied by 42-year-old Michael L. Mulanax, his wife, Angela Mulanax, 41, and their son James Mulanax, 18.
The Hummer flipped over on its top, the driver, Jameson, was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for leg injuries and released.
There is no word on whether the dog was injured in the crash.
