OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma law enforcement agencies say they hope thousands of free gun locks will help decrease accidental shootings in the state.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation is providing the locks under the Project ChildSaft program. It's funded by a $50-million grant from the federal Justice Department.
Oklahoma received 304,000 of the locks, which can be used on handguns, rifles and shotguns. The locks prevent the guns from being in a position where a bullet could be fired.
Officials say they're easy to use, but difficult to remove without a key.
More than 400 law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma received the locks for free distribution.
