This week is National School Bus Safety week, and one local school district is taking advantage of the event.

Kindergarten and first grade students from Broken Arrow's Park Lane Elementary participated in the Safe Rider Program Tuesday. The program teaches students the proper way to behave on a school bus through classroom instruction and hands-on activities. Robin Weaver, a Safe Rider instructor for Broken Arrow schools, "It cuts down on vandalism, it cuts down in behavior problems and it allows the driver to do their job which is drive a school bus."

This is the second year for the Safe Rider Program in Broken Arrow.
