A driver's body was found early Sunday morning after a vehicle caught on fire.

The Tulsa Fire Department received a call of an injury accident with a vehicle on fire just after midnight Sunday near East 101st Street and South Yale Avenue.

Authorities arrived on the scene where they found the driver inside a Chevrolet Camaro. Once firefighters put the fire out, they said the body was "unrecognizable" inside the car. The Tulsa Police Department has not identified the body but can confirm that it is a male.

One witness told police that they attempted to pull the driver out of the vehicle, but the flames were too much for the witness to rescue the driver. Another witness told authorities that the driver was driving westbound on East 101st Street when he passed them at a high rate of speed and crashed into a tree. The witness said the crash caused the vehicle to explode on impact.

TPD's investigation into the accident is underway.
