When watching David Payne during severe weather season, you’ve probably heard a few of them. We call them David-isms.

Meteorologist Cassie Heiter said, “He always says random weird things on TV, and we’ll look at him and just start laughing.”

News 9 Storm Tracker Val Castor said, “Grinder. You’ve got that one on there? It’s a grinder.”

News 9 Storm Tracker Tom Pastrano added, “We had one, was the donut hole and he got everybody hungry out in the field.”

News 9 Storm Tracker Bobby Payne has a favorite. He said, “He called one a cinnamon roll. I was like, 'it does look like a cinnamon roll, and it’s also spinning.'”

News 9 anchor Bobbie Miller said, “Something he says a lot is ‘don’t be this guy,’ talking about flooding."

Bob Mills Sky News 9 pilot Jim Gardner’s favorite David-ism is between “'Bear cage' and 'screaming eagle.'”

News 9 meteorologist Lacey Swope also likes 'screaming eagle,' but admits there are a few “that I can’t repeat.”

News 9 Storm Tracker Corey Butler said, “He’ll come out with a new one from time to time, and we’ll look at each other and wonder ‘Where did that one come from?’”

News 9 anchor Amanda Taylor likes the classic David-ism. She said, “I like ‘Here We Go’ and ‘Fire Up’ because it just gets everybody going.”

News 9 anchor Karl Torp has a few as well. He said, “My favorite is 'open for business.' I like hearing that, but a personal favorite is when he says we have the largest team of trackers in the state, and it’s like he’s doing the math in his head -- and then he ends up saying ‘in the country.’”

What will David come up with this season?

Only David knows and there’s a good chance he doesn’t even know.
