Tulsans Gather To Pray For 16-Year-Old Teen Paralyzed After Crash

Friends and family of a Glenpool teen are praying for a miracle. They told us it’s been a rough few weeks but continue to keep the faith.

Guy Davis hasn't given up on his baby girl and neither has her community. Every night since the wreck friends and family of Avery Davis gather on top of Ascension Saint John's parking garage to lean in on the power of prayer.

It feels like just yesterday Guy Davis brought his baby girl home from the hospital for the first time.

"I'm wrapped around that pinky more times than you can count,” said Guy Davis.

Now, 16 years later, Davis wants nothing more than to take her home from the hospital again. Tonight, Avery is fighting for her life at Ascension Saint John's Medical Center in Tulsa.

"She's the strongest person that I know. She's definitely stronger than me,” said Davis.

Davis said Avery broke her neck after she was t-boned on August 18th, ultimately paralyzing her from the chest down.

"She's more worried about the family that was in the other car,” said Davis.

Davis said a Tulsa police officer was just getting off work when he came across the crash, pulled Avery out of the car and started CPR until the ambulance could get there.

"By the grace of God and Him working His miracles they got her on a chopper,” said Davis.

Davis said she lost her pulse twice and was placed on life support. Avery has since been through several surgeries.

"She gives eye signals and we're getting fairly good at lip-reading,” said Davis.

And today, she has involuntary movements in her legs.

"We're looking at miracle after miracle,” said Davis.

Friends, family and first responders gather on top of Saint John's parking garage every night to pray for Avery.

"Roles was reversed, she'd be here doing the same thing. She's one of the main people I look up to,” said Dustin Pressler, Avery’s childhood best friend.

"I can't wait for the day that I can hear her voice and see her crazy, quirky smile again,” said Brandie Davis, Avery's aunt.

Guy Davis said this has truly tested and renewed his faith.

"She'll tell ya, she will walk again, so, she will walk again,” said Davis.

Avery's parents plan to take her to a rehab center in Oklahoma City late next week.
