Watch: Tulsa Pizzerias Join 'Pizzas Across America' For National Pizza Day

To celebrate National Pizza Day on Wednesday, pizza shops across the country are delivering pizzas to shelters and soup kitchens.

The campaign is called “Pizza Across America” and some Tulsa restaurants are taking part. On Wednesday, 200 pizzerias from all over the country are delivering pizzas to people in need and in Tulsa, the pizzas will be donated to the John 3:16 Mission. Hundreds of pizza shops, thousands of slices delivered, thousands of people fed, and one goal.

Slice Out Hunger and World Pizza Champions teamed up to start Pizza Across America.

Andolini’s Owner Mike Bausch says his restaurant is donating 30 20-inch pizzas, which will feed several

hundred people.

Zasa's Pizza and Wings is donating more than 15 large pizzas.

"So, both pizzerias combined attacking this issue here in Tulsa feeding those who need it at John 3:16. It's an excellent group with an excellent cause, right here in Tulsa. It's not going somewhere else, it's right here helping Tulsans,” Bausch said.

Pizzerias are joining in from each state in the country.

Bausch says it's all part of a nationwide effort by pizzerias to fight food insecurity and help those in need 

"And we can do something about that. We do that daily, but I love that all these individual portals coming together to do it as one cohesive unit. And that's what's so special about today on National Pizza Day and giving this day meaning,” Bausch said. 

Bausch says the pizzas will be dropped off at John 3:16 around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
