Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced Thursday that he will take on the prosecution of an Oklahoma attorney who is accused of assisting illegal marijuana operations.

Matt Stacy, a Canadian County attorney, was charged with 13 felony counts in the Garvin County District Court after an Oct. 17, 2022 affidavit said he allegedly "aided, encouraged, facilitated and/or contributed to a black-market for unlawful marijuana cultivation, trafficking and/or manufacturing.”

“Illegal marijuana grows are causing an alarming influx of organized crime throughout Oklahoma, mostly run by Chinese nationals,” Drummond said. “Any Oklahoman who partners with these criminals and enables their illicit dealings will be held accountable.”

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Control will work closely with Drummond on Stacy's prosecution, according to Drummond.
