The University of Oklahoma's School of Dance is using a dance class to help people battling Parkinson's disease.

These research-based classes are designed to engage the mind and body in movement with the guidance of a professor at OU.

Participants of the class say it helps them use their brains and get moving at the same time.

Midge Gerber said she feels the group works to create a safe space for connection and accessibility.

Class instructor Kathleen Redwine says she was inspired to teach the class because her husband had Parkinson's.

Classes are free every Thursday at The Well in Norman for anyone with Parkinson's or movement disorders.
