Moses Lifts Oklahoma State Past La Salle in Double Overtime

The Cowboys took a big lead in the second overtime to notch their seventh win of the season.

PHILADELPHIA -- Two buzzer beaters led to a double-overtime thriller Saturday, but Oklahoma State managed to come out on top of La Salle 92-87.

After overcoming an eight-point halftime deficit, Oklahoma State’s Marshall Moses connected on a short jumper with just 11 seconds left on the clock to force the first overtime period.

OSU took control in the in the opening minutes of the first extra period.

The Cowboys strung together a 10-4 run – helped along by two three-pointers by Ray Penn – to take a 77-71 lead two minutes into the first overtime.

La Salle then scored six unanswered points to tie the game at 77 with just 58 seconds left in regulation. Moses hit a pair of free throws to give OSU a two-point advantage with less than 30 seconds to play, but the Explorers Aaric Murray hit on a last-second jumper to force a second overtime with the squads tied at 79.

Oklahoma State took another early lead in overtime, stringing together a 7-2 run to take an 86-81 lead just one minute into the second extra period.

La Salle could only manage eight points in the second overtime period and the Cowboys came away with the win.

Moses led all scorers with 30 points and 18 boards, while guard Keiton Page contributed 13points – nine coming from behind the arc – and six assists.

The Explorers had two players finish with 23 points, Murray – who also grabbed 13 boards – and Jerrell Williams.

Oklahoma State is back in action Wednesday in at the BOK Center in Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane.
