TULSA, OK -- The City of Tulsa paid out $997,517 Thursday to the 124 police officers who were laid off two weeks ago.  According to the city payroll department, the figure includes $214,190 in severance, and $783,327 in vacation and compensatory time payments.

The payments on Thursday are in addition to the regular payroll for their last two weeks of work.  Those payments will be made Friday.

If a deal is reached soon to hire back some of the officers, the city of Tulsa might allow them to return vacation and comp time pay, if officers  preferred to keep the time in reserve, instead of the money.
