Despite cloudy skies Monday afternoon the Henryetta-Beggs baseball game at the Demon’s home field was played as scheduled and at the games end, the Knights shutout Beggs 8-0.

High winds wreaked havoc with the pitchers, and in the first the bases were loaded when Henryetta’s Seba Delocal drew a walk which scored center fielder Caul Warlow.

Catcher Colt Williams got to first, which meant right fielder Rush Williams could go home. Beggs then loaded the bases, but pitcher Mason Kellett notched a strikeout, ending the first inning.

The Knights added two more runs to the score board in the second after Kellett got an RBI base hit.

Keller then struck out the Demons 1-2-3 to end the inning.

Henryetta had runners on first and second when a new Beggs pitcher warmed up, but he sent the next three batters back to the dugout.

The Demons’ shot to rally in the third was cut short on a bases loaded fly ball to center field that was caught.

Henryetta couldn’t score in the fifth, and Beggs’ turn ended in a double play.

In the sixth, Tyler Brown hit a single, which scored Warlow.

Kellett added another strikeout, his sixth of the day, and the Demons went three up and three down.
Colt Williams was one of five Knights hit by a pitch during the game and left fielder Chase Taylor was walked, and then Warlow cranked a ball, into the wind, over the left field wall, sealing the win.

In the bottom of the seventh Beggs put runners on first and second, but a fielder’s choice ended the game.

The win is Henryetta second this season over the Deamons as they the Knights beat them 17-1 earlier this year.

Henryetta plays in the Rattan Tournament this weekend, they’ll host Checotah Monday at 4:30 p.m., if weather allows, and Wednesday through Saturday the Knights take part in the Dewar Tournament.

Beggs faces Preston at home Friday and will take on Okmulgee and Seminole on Saturday. Monday the Demons tangle with Eufaula, and then Tuesday through Thursday will be the Beggs Classic tournament.
