Ponca City Cheerleaders Win National Championship

Ponca City cheerleaders won top honors in a national cheerleading competition held in Oklahoma City.

Ponca City cheerleaders won top honors in a national cheerleading competition held in Oklahoma City. The Ponca City Wildcat Competitive Cheer squad took home their first national championship in the ASC Cheer Championship January 21-22.

"We are proud to have won the National Championship in the high school division," said Head Cheerleading Coach Ashley Waller-Campbell

"At the conclusion of the award ceremony, Ponca City was awarded the honor of Grand Champion," she said. "This distinction means we placed first in our division and scored higher than any other school or all star recreational team in our division."

Cheerleaders are: seniors Cari Cashon, Eraca Barnes, Aubrey Hercyk, Christina Cooper, and Jordan Cremers; juniors Kailye Anderson, Darion Rush, Allyson Howey, Beth Wooters, Lauren Powell, and Kirsi Williams; sophomores Melanie Gartside, Kristina Cnossen, Lexi Smith, Sarah Johnston, and Hannah Porter; also, freshmen Bailey Gilliland, Kyndal Edens, Hannah Hercyk, Candice Kurtz, and Jordan Scott.

Assistant coaches are Darla Turney and Blair Turney.
