The Golden Eagles lost their second consecutive game Saturday, falling to the East Carolina Pirates 4-2 in their second game of the DRASH Alabama Baseball Classic.
East Carolina's Tyler Joyner (3-0) kept the Oral Roberts bats in check, pitching six complete innings, giving up five hits and one earned run, striking out seven. Drew Bowen (2-1) received his first loss of the season, giving up three earned runs on eight hits in six innings of service for Oral Roberts.
The game remained scoreless for the first inning and a half, until the bottom of the second, thanks to a Zach Wright RBI single to center field to take a 1-0 advantage.
That score held until the top of the sixth inning, until Cam Schiller belted his sixth home run of the season, tying the game 1-1. However, that tie wouldn't last long.
With two outs on the board in the bottom of the sixth, a two-run double and an RBI single in consecutive at-bats broke the tie and up the Pirates up three runs.
Oral Roberts will try to avoid a three-game losing streak Sunday, closing out the Alabama Baseball Classic against the hosting Crimson Tide at 2 p.m.
