Men's Basketball Preview: ORU Set To Host Haskell

The Oral Roberts men's basketball team returns to action Sunday, December 28, to host Haskell in the Mabee Center at 3:00 p.m.

The Golden Eagles haven't played since its 52-45 loss to Missouri State in Springfield, (December 22). After the game, head coach Scott Sutton said, “You aren't going to win a game on the road when you only score 14 points in the second half, and don't hit a field goal in the final ten minutes. We had some good looks, but just missed them. The bottom line is, to win on the road you have to make shots.”

The game was ORU's third consecutive loss, making it the team's second three-game losing streak of the season.

ORU's upcoming home game against the Indians will give the team an opportunity to turn its losing streak around. This will be Oral Roberts fourth home game of the season, and it's final non-conference game of the year. The game will be the first time in school history that the two teams face each other. It will count as a regular season game for the Golden Eagles, and an exhibition game for Haskell.

Haskell is currently 1-12 overall, while the Golden Eagles are 6-7 overall and 4-7 on the season. Despite the Indians' losing record, ORU needs to bring the offense in order to walk away with a win. That shouldn't be hard, due to the fact that Haskell has given up over 80 points in all but four games this season.

Haskell has lost the last five contests it has competed in, and was on an eight game losing streak before its win against McPherson College.

ORU's leading scorer Obi Emegano will go head-to-head with the Indians leading scorer Stand Lovato. If ORU wins this weekend, it will be the team's eighth consecutive home win.

If the Golden Eagles perform on both sides of the ball, Sunday's game should be an easy victory for the team.
