Sapulpa firefighters were called to a rural area northwest of town after a passerby reported seeing smoke Saturday morning. They found a mobile home that was burning to the ground in the 1600 block of North Pearson Drive.

A fire captain at the scene said the hilliness of the area meant it took a few minutes to find the correct driveway. The mobile home was abandoned and completely destroyed by fire.

There were no utilities to the property.

Firefighters had to run hoses up a steep hill to access the single-wide trailer.

The incident is under investigation as a possible arson given the circumstances of the fire, the captain said. The state fire marshal will determine the cause, however.
