Black Friday Shoppers Discuss Deals And How Weather Impacted Their Experiences

Best Buy, as usual, was packed Friday while customers weaved through the aisles checking out all the latest gadgets.

“Best Buy sets the tone. You come here and see what’s up and it helps us while electronic shopping for the rest of the year and holidays," said Best Buy shopper Samir Kumar.

Kumar and his son picked up a few games and DVD's. 

Best Buy began offering deals on Thanksgiving a few years back.

“I’m not a big fan of doing it on Thursday. That needs to be family time,” said Kumar.

But management told News on 6 that a lot of shoppers seem to like it. The earlier they can get their hands on Xbox deals, televisions or high-end headphones the better.

And the employees don’t seem to mind having to work on the holiday.

“Everyone in the store is pumped up. The employees are pumped up and ready to have a good time," says Best Buy employee Courtney Lewis-Castle.

At nearby Academy, the deals stayed under wraps until Friday to give employees the chance to have the day off with family.

Manager Robert Pearce says there was an initial rush on Friday morning, but he believes the rain slowed things down.

“We sell a lot of bulk items right now, treadmills and trampolines and you don’t want to get them wet and stick in [the] back of [a] truck,” said Pearce.

Academy customer Delicia White says she hit the road as soon as they finished their Thanksgiving meal Thursday.

“We started straight to Tulsa. We’re from Eufaula; we've been going all night long,” explained White.

Malls and shopping centers aren't the only places where you'll find Black Friday deals. LQK Pick Your Parts in Tulsa is said to be one of the best spots for men who love cars to shop on Black Friday.
